The Maine Real Estate market in 2017 was very active. The number of properties sold was up 2.02% and the median sales price was up 9%. This was done with a historically low number of listing inventory especially the first 6 months of the year. Sales were very strong in the third and fourth quarters of 2017.

The statewide median sale price of $189,400 represents an increase of 4.93 percent.
Although interest rates have inched upward, they are still favorable to buyers of single family homes. It is a great time to buy and if you are a seller a great time to sell because of the low housing inventory for buyers to choose from.

Sales of single-family existing homes in Maine continued their upward climb during the month of February. Maine Listings reported a 21.72 percent jump in sales over the past 12 months. The median sales price (MSP) of $160,000 reflects a slight price decline of 4.42 percent.
